Dallas Cowboys Visit Mi Escuelita (September 25, 2007)

The Dallas Cowboys kicked off their 7th annual "Rookie Club" with an afternoon appearance at Mi Escuelita Preschool on September 25, 2007. The Cowboys’ 2007 rookie players had the opportunity to kick-off Hispanic Heritage Month with the children of Mi Escuelita by participating in an assortment of classroom activities.

The children watched with fascination as these huge role models helped them to make small art projects celebrating Hispanic heritage. The Cowboys made traditional paper flowers adding creative “bling,” painted colorful self portraits, and created life-size ponchos and maracas. The visit culminated in a celebration at Mi Escuelita’s Crossover center, where the children performed song and dance routines for the Dallas Cowboys who quickly seized the opportunity to join the children on stage. Cowboy Deon Anderson had a special treat for the children before they departed: laughter from students, teachers, staff and teammates resonated as Deon read and brought to life a funny story about a mouse to the eager Mi Escuelita children.
