Welcome to Mi Escuelita Preschool

Mi Escuelita Preschool was founded in 1978 as an English immersion preschool dedicated to teaching English to children of all cultures for preparation to transition to Kindergarten. Our mission is to provide a nurturing and safe environment where young children can learn and grow. We offer a comprehensive curriculum that promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Our experienced and dedicated teachers use interactive and engaging teaching methods to help your child develop language proficiency and communication skills.

Our Goals

Develop well-rounded children

Foster cultural diversity and understanding

Mi Escuelita Preschool

increases English language vocabulary to ensure that children’s language skills are strong enough to transition to English speaking kindergarten classrooms.

Each year, more than 85% of children transitioning from Mi Escuelita qualify to enter English speaking Kindergarten classrooms. This alleviates the need for higher cost bilingual education and enables children to avoid remedial English education, thus helping to lower their chances of dropping out of school in later years.

Parent participation in a child’s education is one of the lead indicators of future academic success, which is why Mi Escuelita is proud to have strong participation from involved parents.

Empowering English Language Learners

Mi Escuelita uses a research-based curriculum (PreK On My Way) that aligns with Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) preschool readiness guidelines combined with practices geared toward English language learners. Children are screened within the first 45 days of the school year using the Learning Accomplishment Profile- Diagnostic (LAP-D) and Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA) to determine potential delays.

Children are assessed at the beginning, mid-year and at the end of each school year using the Children Learning Institute’s- Circle Assessment from a nationally used and recognized tool to measure a child’s developmental gains across a variety of areas including STEM, language, reading and writing, health development and many other subject areas.

Children’s English Language fluency is assessed at the end of each school year using the national recognized PreLAS English Proficiency assessment.
