From Intern to Teacher
Wendy Ramos walked through the Mi Escuelita doors five years ago as a high school student. She came to us through the Cristo Rey Dallas at Work program as a first-time intern. Wendy immediately became part of the Mi Escuelita family by helping our teachers and being a big sister to our little students. During the two years that Wendy was with us she realized that early childhood education was her calling.
After graduating from Cristo Rey Wendy enrolled in Dallas College where she will receive her Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Child Development/Early Childhood Education degree in December of this year. Wendy has been a Mi Escuelita teacher for one year, which has made her eligible to be a participant in our Education Evolution Program. This program is a teacher/staff development initiative that supports the higher education dreams of our team.
Wendy believes that her formative years as a Mi Escuelita intern set her on a path of success and back to where it all started in a Mi Escuelita classroom. With the help of the Education Evolution Program she plans to pursue her bachelor’s degree in education.
From intern and “big sister,” to teacher, Wendy is a great example of the success we want for all of our Mi Escuelita family.
